The difference between carrier companies and auto transport brokers
After examining all of the pros and cons a customer has decided that it's a better deal to hire an Auto Carrier to transport their car instead of driving it themselves. Usually transporting a car comes with a major life change. The customer is starting college, moving for a new job or retiring to a new phase of their life.
It understandable that they're focused on the big picture. So they might not pick up on the fact that they are hiring an auto broker instead of an auto carrier. An auto broker is really just a form of freight broker. They act as the middleman between the customer and the company that will actually be transporting the car. The advantage is that they have access to many carriers and quotes. So the customer does less shopping around. The broker also acts as your service oriented respresentative, whereas a carrier, which is basically a trucking company, isn't going to offer the flexibility and experience that an experienced broker provides for their fee.
Obviously the broker doesn't have as much control over the process as the actual transport company. The customer might not receive a guaranteed pick up time. The broker won't know the exact specifics of the truck that will be picking up the car.
The homeowner might actually have to agree to meeting the truck at another location, because the transport carrier can't fit in their neighborhood. Brokers arrange transport to maximize the revenue on a route. Instead of picking cars up in a geographic order, they have the cars picked up by the highest paying. So if a car is in the low paying range, it might always get bumped.
