As we continue on from the snowstorms that hit across the U.S. last week, we are seeing cold temperatures and snow continue to fall. A strong storm has affected the eastern third of the nation this week, that went north across the Appalachians, and hit New England today. The storm included freezing rain, snow, and precipitation. A quarter inch of ice is possible and will afterwards transition to rain. Icy conditions in the Northeast make transportation slow, so be careful on the roads today.

Apparent tornadoes hit Florida and Mississippi on Monday, and snow is continuing North. The tornadoes were a result of a winter snowstorm in the south that carried into the eastern U.S. with rain, sleet, snow, strong winds and rain that came along with record-breaking low temperatures. As a result, 10 houses were destroyed along Florida and Mississippi.

Snow will continue on from eastern Kentucky to the Western side of New York, which will have the coldest air. As we move toward the coasts, the temperature will rise from 50 to 60 degrees along with heavy winds.

After the beautiful sunny weather last week in California and the west, a strong Pacific cold front is expected to hit by Wednesday, and result in lower elevation in mountain snow on Thursday. Sierra Nevada and the Cascades are expected to get a foot of snow – the most snow throughout the west. precipitation is expected from Nevada to Colorado.

The Midwest is expected to get snow and light rain today, which will move across to the Ohio Valley by tonight. Precipitation is also expected in the region.
