Massachusetts, officially named the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States. Known as the “Bay State” due to the fact that settlers arrived on the Cape Cod Bay. Cape Cod is in fact one of the most visited areas of Massachusetts, as it offers amazing vacation homes and boating activities. The Eastham Windmill, the oldest windmill on Cape Cod resides in Eastham, Massachusetts. In 2014, the estimated population in Massachusetts was 6,745,408. Major cities include Boston, Worcester, and Springfield. A major highway in Massachusetts is I-93. The department of transportation is known as the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MASSDOT). The Adams National Historical Park contains the home of presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams. It features the house, the surrounding farmland and several other buildings, including the Stone Library.
