In the photo below from The Washington Post, a car drives through a flooded street in North Carolina 10 days after Hurricane Florence hit. Crews are still working to clean up the area and get major roads back open.

North – Severe thunderstorms from the Midwest will travel towards northeastern states on Wednesday from West Virginia to Maine. Heavy rain, damaging wind gusts are to be expected along with temperatures 6-12 degrees lower from Massachusetts to New Jersey

South – Hurricane Florence caused destruction on a massive scale and the damage done will take years to clean up.  I-95 in North Carolina just re-opened, but flooding is forcing citizens in South Carolina to evacuate. Floodwaters are continuing to rise in South Carolina a week after Hurricane Florence hit, along with power outages . Hurricane Florence left so much debris across the roads, which is creating a long cleanup ahead.

Midwest – Severe thunderstorms threats are heading for the Midwest states on Tuesday from Missouri to Ohio. With these storms, you will mostly see hail and damaging winds. Potential power outages and downed trees are possible; be aware when traveling through this area. Isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out as high winds will be the main culprit of the storm.

West – In Oregon, the last week of summer will bring heavy showers and temperatures in the high 60’s.  Arizona is still seeing summer temperatures with weather in the 100’s and even reached 104 degrees on Sunday. For the rest of the week, expect afternoon temperatures with highs in the 100’s and lows in the 70’s at night.
