For the holidays, many states are expecting cold air and snow which may cause travel delays and affect auto transportation. Find out below if your area is expecting a White Christmas for this year!

North – A jetstream of cold air will be traveling from the western states to the eastern states. For people that are traveling, towards the end of the week until Christmas Day, there will be a wintry mix of snow, rain and ice. Expect travel delays and flight cancellations. A white Christmas is especially likely from Pennsylvania to Maine. Many states already had snow in the Northeast over the weekend, expect further cold air for this upcoming week.

 

South – States in the South are expected to have rain through Friday from Texas to South Carolina. Warm temperatures are expected for Southern states on Christmas including Florida, with an average of 80 degrees from Sunday into Monday. Currently, a power outage in Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson international Airport in Georgia has caused thousands of flight delays and stranded many travelers. Expect travel delays in Georgia if you are taking a flight for the holidays.

 

Midwest – States in the Midwest that are likely to see a white Christmas are from Ohio to Minnesota and from North Dakota to South Dakota.  States around the Rockies are also expecting to see snow late this week, and air travel volume will increase as we get closer to Christmas.

 

West – The western states are bringing a jet stream of cold air towards eastern states for this week. Mild air in the west is expected, although snow will be expected towards the end of the week from Oregon to Washington. Firefighters are still battling the Thomas Fire in California. This is California’s  3rd largest wildfire, which has already destroyed 270,000 acres of land. People throughout the Santa Barbara and Los Angeles area should listen to evacuation orders, and proceed with caution when traveling around this area.
