Colorado is an American state encompassing most of the Southern Rocky Mountains. Also known as, “The Centennial State”, Colorado has a population of 5,355,866. Major cities in Colorado include Denver, Colorado Springs, and Aurora. A popular route traveled in Colorado is Highway I-76. The transportation department is known as the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). Colorado is home to the Royal George Bridge, which at 955 ft. above ground, was the highest bridge in the world for over 70 years. Colorado is also recognized for having breathtaking natural scenery perfect for road trips. This includes the Rocky Mountain National Park, which offers hiking trails, fishing, horseback riding and other outdoor activities. The Cedar Tree Arch is often visited in Colorado, as well as other natural sights such as Pikes Peak, Mesa Verde and The Black Canyon National Park.
