Idaho is a state in the northwestern region of the country. Known as “The Gem State” for its abundance of natural resources including great natural scenery, over 240 different types of minerals have been found to be produced in Idaho. In 2014, Idaho had an estimated population of 1,634,464. Major cities include Boise, Nampa, and Meridian. Idaho’s department of transportation is known as the Idaho Transportation Department or the ITD. A popular highway traveled in Idaho is Highway I-86. Idaho is home to a number of breath-taking landmarks, including the deepest river gorge in North America, and Hell’s Canyon National Recreation Area. Tourists can engage in activities such as whitewater rafting, hiking or horseback riding. This area is accessible via road, trail or boat. The Twin falls is also a major tourist attraction, which is a spot where two waterfalls naturally meet to create a view unlike anywhere else in the world.
