New Hampshire is a U.S. state located in the New England region of the country. It is known as the “Granite State.” As of 2014, New Hampshire had an estimated population of 1,326,813. Major cities include Concord, Manchester, and Nashua. A major highway in New Hampshire is Highway I-89. The department of transportation is called the New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT). Mount Washington is a major attraction in New Hampshire and is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6,288 ft and the most prominent mountain east of the Mississippi River. It is famous for dangerously erratic weather. The Lost River Reservation is a series of caves in the White Mountains in Woodstock, New Hampshire–located 5 miles west of the village of North Woodstock on New Hampshire Route 112. The Flume Gorge is a natural gorge extending 800 feet horizontally at the base of Mount Liberty in Franconia Notch State Park.
