Record warm temperatures in the Eastern States of the U.S. this week averaging 70 degrees from South Carolina to Massachusetts. New York and Pennsylvania had the earliest temperature reading of the year to hit 80 degrees. High pressure winds move across the East to bring additional Spring-like temperatures.

 

Last week in the midwest, areas like Chicago hit 70 degrees – their highest temperature since 2000 that was hit this early in the season. Severe thunderstorms will also target the midwest for this week.

 

For the western states, storms continue from Washington to California from the strong frontal that had recently hit. The past four days had strong winds and rain, knocking down trees and power lines. Transportation in this area may be difficult due to fallen trees.
Severe Storms in the South brought about Tornadoes in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. These tornadoes affected 15 million people in the South. An EF-1 tornado with 70 mph winds hit Dallas, causing power outages, broken traffic lights and fallen trees. A flood advisory is issued for the Illinois river, where waters may reach 11.5 inches. Widespread flooding in Louisiana and the Mississippi River where waters reached as high as 2 feet. As for traffic conditions, roads may continue to be closed for the week and not possible to pass through due to severe flooding.
