While it is true that America is a great place to live that doesn’t mean that you’re not going to need a change of scenery from time to time. And since we’re interested in all things relating to transportation we were curious as to what were the most popular places for Americans to sojourn to once they succumbed to their wanderlust.

With just a bit of digging we came across this piece published on Huffpost.com. It lists the top ten most likely places for you to find an American expat. Some of the entries are surprising, for instance, Germany is 4th on the list with over a hundred thousand Americans living within its borders. Though this is likely less surprising considering the US still has a prominent military presence in the country and has had one since the end of World War II.

There are the likely suspects included as well. At the top of the list is Mexico and Canada at one and two. And then next up is the United Kingdom. Sure it’s across the pond but you don’t have to worry about any language barriers. Except in maybe some of the accents but that isn’t anything different from the states. No real surprises in the top three except maybe the fact that more people have moved from the United States to Mexico in recent years than vice versa.

We won’t go on and spoil the rest of the list for you. But we want to say that if you are leaving the country and you plan on taking your vehicle with you–you should know that there is a right way to do it. When you’re having a vehicle transported internationally you have to understand that the costs and risks are heightened. This makes it all the more important to have the process handled by a company that you trust. You can read more about our approach to overseas car shipping here.

Getting around in a new country can be difficult in and of itself, so you should make sure that your car shows up in good shape and on time.
