A note on the base name

This base has had three names in three years. Originally Fort Bragg (1918), the installation was renamed Fort Liberty in June 2023 after the Naming Commission recommended replacing names honoring Confederate generals. In a turn nobody quite expected, the base was renamed back to Fort Bragg in early 2025, this time honoring Pvt. First Class Roland L. Bragg, a World War II Distinguished Service Cross recipient (a different person from the original Confederate namesake).

As of 2026, the official name is Fort Bragg again. However, the 2023 to 2025 transition period left a lot of search behavior, PCS orders, and signage referring to “Fort Liberty,” and some service members still use that name. We handle shipments by either name and capture both terms throughout this guide. The URL retains both for SEO continuity.

Gate access and pickup logistics

Like most major military installations, Fort Bragg restricts commercial vehicle access. A 75-foot car carrier can’t pull through the gates without significant escort and paperwork.

Standard practice for Fort Bragg pickups:

  • Off-base residential addresses in Fayetteville, Spring Lake, Hope Mills, Raeford, and surrounding communities work great for door-to-door pickup
  • Off-base meeting points. If you’re in on-base housing, we coordinate at a nearby parking lot or shopping center off-base. Common meeting points include large shopping centers and commercial areas near the All American, Reilly, and Knox gates.
  • Confirm in advance. When you book, we discuss your specific situation and confirm the pickup point before dispatch.

This is routine. Carriers stage Fort Bragg pickups every day during PCS season.

PCS season timing for Fort Bragg

PCS season runs May through August, peaking in June and July. Special operations training cycles and deployment rotations can also affect localized demand at Fort Bragg.

During peak PCS:
Demand spikes 10 to 15 percent above off-peak rates
Pickup windows extend from a typical 1 to 3 day window to 3 to 5 days
Carrier availability tightens especially for the most popular destinations (Fort Hood, JBLM, Camp Pendleton, Hawaii VPC routes)

Best move: book 4 to 6 weeks ahead during peak PCS season. For non-peak windows, 2 to 3 weeks is usually enough.
