North – The Northeastern states will experience warmer than average temperatures from Maine to New Jersey. From Maine to Florida, on and off rain and potential flooding can be expected.

South – Florida is experiencing the worst red tide in over a decade  which is creating an algal bloom. It is killing many animals along the Southwest beaches. A high number of sea turtles have been washing up on shore and other animals include pelicans and ducks. Humans are at risk as well from the smell, and anyone with respiratory issues can experience symptoms. If the water is ingested it can cause severe issues.

Midwest – For this week, the Midwestern states will experience cooler weather than average for August. From Indiana to Wisconsin, this week will be a nice break from typical August temperatures. Enjoy the cooler temperatures since warm weather will return later in August.
West – Wildfires in California are not slowing down anytime soon. A recent wildfire in Redding, California has destroyed over 600 buildings and is currently threatening 5,000 more. 35,000 people are forced to evacuate the area. In California, there are at least 17 wildfires across the state and with the humid weather lacking rain – there is no end in site soon enough. If you are traveling through this area, be aware of evacuations. Heat and dry conditions will continue throughout this week.
