North – For the Northeastern states, expect an autumn wind chill this week from New York to Maine. Temperatures will be much cooler this week as rain returns for today. Much of the cold air in the Northeast will swoop across from the Great Lakes. Although chilly, this is still a good time for travel in the Northeast this week.

South – Hurricane Michael is still impacting residents who are in desperate need or food. From certain areas of northern Florida to North Carolina, many residents are still left without power and have roads blocked from massive debris. Many areas of Florida still have areas without power and the Florida panhandle has been devastated leaving residents without food, water, phones and electricity.  As for Texas this week, heavy rain has caused damaging floods from lingering tropical moisture and an unusually cold start to the month of October. Some cities had 3 to 6 inches of rain causing travel delays and prompting water rescues. Flooding is also likely for Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Midwest – Cooler temperatures along with a frost freeze threat on Wednesday night from Illinois to Maine. Chilly October air is finally here for the Midwest, but temperatures will rebound a bit for the weekend and will be a little warmer.

West – It is currently a winter wonderland from Colorado to Minnesota. Some areas saw anywhere from 2 to 10 inches of snow.  As for California, winds in Santa Ana will increase the wildfire threat for this week.
