North – Northern states can see two rounds of snow this week from Maryland to Maine. Winter Storm Maya will hit states from Massachusetts to Maine on Tuesday. On Thursday, another snowstorm will hit the East coast, from Virginia to New Hampshire. Expect transportation delays throughout this week.

Midwest – A Jet Stream disturbance during the winter months causes places like the Southern states and states along the Ohio Valley to be at risk for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. The cold surface air causes this during the winter time, which can occasionally cause devastating storms. Winter Storm Maya will be affecting the Midwest in the beginning of the week from Minnesota to Wisconsin. This storm will also bring ice and rain, making travelling difficult during this time.

West – Below average temperatures are expected for the Northern plains with temperatures 30 degrees colder than average. Montana will be affected along with states along the Mississippi Valley and the Great Lakes. Winter Storm Maya will be here from Monday to Tuesday in Western states from Washington to California and from Idaho to North Dakota. Many in Washington are currently without power due to the extent of the snowstorm.

South – A record warmth in Southern states is causing concern, as this is creating a tornado risk for February in from Texas to North Carolina. Warm temperatures will travel from Southern to Northern states midweek, bringing above average temperatures. Temperatures in the South will be 20 to 25 degrees above average from Texas to Ohio.
