For the week of July 4th, expect heat waves throughout most of the U.S. Be sure to keep hydrated and stay in an air conditioned space. The heat can affect outdoor plans since most of the U.S. will experience a hot and humid Fourth of July. If you are transporting your vehicle, be sure to have working A/C. 

North – In the Northeastern states from Maine to Connecticut, there will be sweltering temperatures in the 90s. This dangerous heat will also be experienced from Virginia to New York. Temperatures will only cool down in the 70s at night.

South – Expect thunderstorms at night from Tuesday to Wednesday from Texas to South Carolina. Florida will also experience thunderstorms. Thunderstorms may interrupt fireworks for July 4th. The Southern states will also experience soaring temperatures this week in the upper 90’s.

Midwest – From Tuesday to Wednesday, you can expect thunderstorms in South Dakota and Minnesota. Heatwaves will continue for the west of the week, potentially reaching the mid 90’s. Thunderstorms in Ohio and the Great Lakes may affect fireworks for July 4th and any outdoor plans. On and off thunderstorms will also be expected from Montana to Minnesota.

West – Wildfires continue to spiral out of control in the Northern California area since Saturday Already, the quickly spreading fires have burned more than 50 sq. miles In Yolo County. There are currently over 100 structures in Sacramento that are being threatened by the raging wildfires. Over San Francisco, the sky turned orange from the wildfires and intense smoke. As of Sunday night, the fire was 2 percent contained. If you are traveling through this area proceed with caution.
