A second nor’easter will affect the U.S. towards the middle of the week for the Northeast. From the nor’easter over the weekend, many trees and power lines were knocked down. Proceed with caution when traveling through areas that were hit by the nor’easter. The storm this week will not be as strong as the winds and coastal damage from Winter Storm Riley last week.

North – The nor’easter for this week, Winter Storm Quinn, will affect the coastal areas the most from Pennsylvania to Maine. Some of these areas may be affected with up to six inches of snow. Conditions will affect commuting for Wednesday afternoon until the evening. A snow mixture from Virginia to Pennsylvania will be expected for Wednesday. Expect travel delays, especially along I-95.

South – Flooding of the Sabine River in Texas causes evacuations in East Texas. People are advised to stay away from the area since the river flooded to nearly 36 feet. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected for Louisiana from Monday into Tuesday and can be potentially severe.

Midwest – Winter Storm Quinn began last week in the upper Midwest and Northern Plains with blizzard-like conditions and heavy winds. On Sunday, Montana had 13 inches of snow, and North Dakota was blanketed with snow including on major highways. Heavy winds, snow and freezing rain are expected today and Tuesday from Montana to Illinois. Travel may be impacted today in Chicago and Milwaukee.
West – For today, snow will fall from certain areas of California to Colorado. 81 inches of snow is expected in Kirkwood, California and 6.5 inches is expected in Dallas Divide, Colorado. Heavy winds are also expected in these areas.
