For this week, states in the U.S. will either have heat waves or mild temperatures due to a jet stream coming from the West.

North – Showers and thunderstorms this week with potential flash flooding will be here midweek from Virginia to Maine. Thunderstorms will be severe midweek from Southern New York to Maine. Rainfall could exceed 2 inches per hour, which can cause excess flooding and difficult driving conditions for car shipping.

South – The heat wave will continue to affect the Southern plains from Texas to Oklahoma. Temperatures were abnormally hot, and will remain the same at about 5 to 10 degrees above average temperatures for this time of year. Along with the excessive heat, you can expect dust from the Sahara Desert being blown into part of Texas to Florida.

Midwest – Expect mild temperatures for this week as a jet stream pass through the Midwest. A cold front from Monday into Tuesday will bring cooler temperatures with thunderstorms and rain.

West – For Western states from New Mexico to Washington, you can expect you and dry weather for this week. In Washington, Oregon and California, temperatures will be above average in at least the first half of the week. Ongoing wildfires in the Western states due to low dew points and temperatures in the 90’s. A current wildfire near Yosemite National Park is only 2 percent contained and is approaching state route 140.
