The photo above is of the first snowstorm of the year in the Midwest.

North – Over 1 million people in the Northeast were left powerless on Monday morning. 80 mph hurricane-force winds forced schools to close, caused railroad service interruptions, especially from New York to Connecticut. Flooding and heavy rainfall were reported in many states including New Hampshire, where flash floods caused cars along the coastline to cause cars to sink into the water.

South – The South also experienced their own storms with Tropical Storm Phillipe bringing heavy rainfall and two tornadoes in South Florida.

West – Wildfires continue to ablaze and full recovery from them may take years. California is still experiencing extreme heat, and two locations in California tied for the U.S. record for the hottest temperatures this late in the season. Many highways in Southern California were shutdown, including the 210 Freeway.  Proceed with caution when traveling through Southern California.

Midwest – The Midwest will face rounds of snowstorms this week.  The first snow of the season is currently falling in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin. The first storm will fall from North Dakota to Ohio from Sunday until Tuesday. The second storm will fall from North Dakota to Minnesota on Wednesday – expect travel delays throughout this area.
