New Jersey is a U.S state located in the north eastern and mid-atlantic region of the country. It is known as the “Garden State” and as of 2014, New Jersey had an estimated population of 8,938,175. Its major cities include Trenton, Newark, and Jersey City. A frequently traveled highway in New Jersey is the New Jersey Turnpike and encompasses 122 miles of road. The department of transportation is called the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT). One fun fact about the state is that on a map, New Jersey has been described as looking like a police officer facing the West. The Jersey Shore, a popular vacation spot, is located the coastal region of the state. Geographically, the area encompasses about 127 miles of oceanfront. Liberty State Park is a green oasis in the middle of Metropolitan northern New Jersey. With the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island within perfect view.
