Midwest – In the Ohio Valley, severe thunderstorms were reported over the weekend. This included damaging winds that knocked out power lines and caused tree damage. The storms weekend over the weekend as the lighting and thunderstorms moved Northward from Ohio to New York. Illinois was affected by 4 tornadoes on Friday, one of which was an EF2 tornado. The EF2 tornado caused the most damage; destroying property, and knocking a home off of its foundation. More severe storms are expected for this week in the Midwest.

North – Storms in the Northeast had dropped temperatures from the recent heat waves experienced over the past few weeks. Heavy winds and downpours had a cooling affect on Eastern states from North Carolina to Maine. The humidity and temperatures will be far less, as the cold front going from the western to Eastern states continues to pass through this week.

South – In Florida, 3 weather systems are being carefully monitored. The Florida Straight is already having winds of 35 mph, with a likelihood of becoming a tropical depression. The storm has the potential to move west to the Gulf of Mexico and miss Florida, but there is still a 30 percent chance of the storm hitting Florida on Friday or Saturday.

West – A major wildfire in Washington is closing down the Yellowstone park south entrance, and evacuating workers and visitors. The fire burned 32 miles near Yellowstone park, and is continuing to burn. The U.S. Highway 89/191/287 is closed due to the flames spreading from strong winds. Transportation will be affected to this area, and cars traveling through may need to find alternate routes.
