North
The North was targeted with heavy rain and thunderstorms over the weekend . Water rescues were ongoing from New Jersey to New York. Pennsylvania had flash flooding warnings over the weekend until today. In Maryland, some of the worst flooding happened with cars being swept to shore, and houses being destroyed. For this week, the North should be calmer, with New York averaging weather in the 70’s.
South
Since the Tornadoes that passed through Kansas last week created so much damage, there are many trees that are blocking roadways and downed power lines. Winds reached highs of 80 mph, blowing over cars and large trucks.
West
California is anticipating its eighth tropical storm for this hurricane season. This cyclone is named Tropical Storm Howard, and is also the eighth cyclone to happen in one month in the Pacific Ocean. A public advisory was issued from 8/1 – 8/5 for increasing wind speeds, proceed with caution when going near these areas.
Midwest
Storms in the Midwest produced flooding from North Dakota to Illinois. In Illinois, 11,000 people were left without power, along with the Chicago O’Hare International Airport delaying and cancelling flights.
