It’s true that the government is consistently looking for ways to change and improve the car shipping industry and shipping in general. But they’ve been busy in other car related areas as well. Specifically, they’ve been cracking down on car dealerships. You may have heard last year of the work the Federal Trade Commission did when they went after dealerships for what they deemed to be deceptive advertising practices. But so far this year the government has announced the successful completion of Operation Ruse Control. It was an operation they worked in conjunction with nationwide law enforcement. Ultimately, it lead to 252 enforcement actions as well as six cases which were handled directly by the FTC.

The results of these cases lead to a lot of disenfranchised consumers getting their money back while the dealers involved, and surely others, were put on notice. Primarily Operation Ruse Control dealt with dealerships and connected entities that were including misleading and expensive add-ons onto the purchase of vehicles.
